  I'm still mystified about why the Holy Spirit didn't move them to sell off 100% of Brooklyn at the peak of the Real Estate bubble.

  Oh well, I suppose this way, little children from developing countries have more opportunity to demonstrate their faith by raising pigs & chickens, selling them for cash and giving it to Watchtower.

  Since my Elder dad died...

  ive been sad.i miss him alot.but i must say,it is very nice to not be hearing all of the "doom and gloom" all of the time.the "we will all be in paradise except you,and even tho i wont be supposed to,ill still miss you" speech.

  {still chokes me up a bit}.hell,yeah,i miss my dad,and feel like i was robbed of many years of a good life with him by the jw's and their petty doctrines and spys.i still have my mum,and she goes to the meetings occasionally,but she knows the deal.my dad was just too damaged from his time in aushweitz to really ever be happy of free.poor soul.i hope he has found some solace and peace at last.dad,i still love you,even tho you made my life hell with the jw thing,i know you were doinf it cause you really did believe it...but its nice to be away from it.i hope he is at peace at last......

  Absolutely. To do something truly evil, it really helps to get religion in the mix. My parents would shun me in a heartbeat. Because they truly love me.

  I awakened about 5 years ago. Kept my elder's hat for about 2.5 more years at which time my eldest child woke up first and within 6 months my wife and other kid(s) also woke up and smelled the cult coffee.

  My gay brother has been DFed for decades and he's the only extended family I have that are out.

  Free at last!!

  i had heard about the mormons, but i had not been the least interested in them.

  in that 5 month time period from when i prayed to god up until the day i got saved, no mormons or jehovah's witnesses came knocking on my door and they would always come to my house on saturdays.

  JW's claim to spend around 1 Billion hours a year banging on doors, often unannounced.

  Even if the actual figure is only a couple hundred million hours, it is a STATISTICAL CERTAINTY that the JWs, (or UPS Drivers or any other door-to-door group) will interrupt at least a few suicide attempts annually.

  (Not to mention also interrupting quite a few sessions of hot & heavy lovemaking, televised sporting events, holiday celebrations, etc.)

  Just received word that some of the Pacific Northwest is also being 100% snubbed with this Zone Visit.

  I really don't get this. They should at least have a couple of West Coast venues for the UBER, UBER, top-notch JW achievers.

  What good is accomplished by telling entire sections of the country "Hey, we're having a party and NONE OF YOU are invited"?

  At least by inviting the Elders, long-time pioneers, etc. you can stir up a bit of envy and some people might be incited to try harder so that maybe one day they too can be part of the inner sphincter.

  Why So Many Young People Are Leaving The Watchtower

  i have been giving a lot of thought to the young people who are leaving the watchtower organization in recent years.

  last night, i was reading the thread posted by jwfacts a while back in which he provided some statistics and graphs showing the rapidly declining growth in the watchtower.

  one factor that was discussed at length was the high number of young people who do not stay in the organization.

  Finding peace

  this is for those of you who are familiar with my periodic rants about being married to a jehovah's witness.

  you won't be seeing any more of them.. my wife and i were up before dawn on friday and spent the entire day on our boat, trolling 10 miles from shore and talking.

  we talked about our lives together, the ground we've covered in the 40 years since we met as university freshmen.
